Dear Chairman Bulova and Supervisor _________:
I am writing to encourage you to support a tax rate of $1.09 which will provide an additional $30 million in unallocated funds for the County. With the proposed level transfer to the schools, this is still a significant cut to our schools based on the $16 million cut to the transfer last year and the level transfers the two previous years. FCPS enrollment increased by 7000 students from FY2009- FY2011 plus 2120 additional students are projected in FY2012. Next year alone this student increase is estimated to cost an additional $17.8 million.
I am willing to pay a slightly higher tax bill rather than further compromise our school system. I value the quality of life here in Fairfax County and feel it is critical to preserve our world-class schools. I urge you to retain the additional $30 million in revenue and provide a portion of those additional funds to FCPS to cover the unavoidable increased operational costs.
Thank you for your service to Fairfax County.
Sincerely,
