About Us

About us

Fairfax FLAGS (Foreign Language Advocacy for Grade Schools) is a united group of community members working to preserve the high-quality of Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) and Fairfax County.

Our group formed in fall of 2009 as concerned community members jumped into action to advocate for increased funding for FCPS as we faced a projected $176 million budget deficit that put many key programs at risk for FY 2011, including elementary school foreign language – immersion and FLES (Foreign Language in the Elementary Schools).

FCPS’s nationally-recognized schools make this county a special place to live and are a defining feature that attracts community members and businesses to Fairfax County. We believe it is critical to work to preserve top-notch FCPS programs, not only for our children, but for the continued vitality of Fairfax County's economy and property values.

If you are a parent, student, alumni or concerned community member living in or out of Fairfax County, please join us in our mission to keep FCPS one of the nation’s best school systems that will continue to offer innovative, global and progressive programs to benefit our students -- our future leaders.
